Square Foot Gardening Method...Chapter 4

Holy Cow! I'm still high on square foot gardens this spring and I want to share a couple more! I just can't get enough of these unique and fun gardens.
I love this method like crazy. They really are foolproof and almost instant gratification. I never get tired of building them, working in them, seeing them and harvesting from them...
We have been lucky enough to be involved with six new square foot gardens this spring. One of which was ours. I am not disappointed. Tomorrow we will harvest our first pick of the season. Green and red lettuce, tender baby spinach and a fun variety of multi-colored radishes.

This is how our square foot garden looks this very day! Tomorrow I will gently clip a variety of lettuce leaves and spinach and pull up just enough radishes for our dinner. I'm planning to wash and save the radish greens as well and saute them up for another healthy fresh dish.
Each morning I fill up my coffee mug and saunter out to this little patch of fresh serenity. It never gets old...

We had the pleasure of installing an original square foot garden for an adorable little family several weeks ago. It was awesome to see it come together.

This is going to be a great little square foot garden. Unobtrusive, easy to work around and very handsome!

This was such a great backyard and I can't wait to see it all in bloom and ready to harvest!

Half the fun of being involved with these gardens is to see how they evolve and flourish with the love and care of their own gardeners. I love seeing the personal touches and ownership the new square foot gardeners take with their garden boxes. Have I mention...it NEVER gets old! :)

I am head over heels for this sweet little garden box. Just what this yard needed was a tidy little square foot box surrounded by a lush bountiful flowery yard. I'm pretty sure every bumble bee and butterfly   will visit this little oasis in the city in the coming weeks.

This picture says it all! A perfect zen garden in a perfect setting. Can't you just feel the vibes!!!? Peace and serenity at its best...

We constructed our first square foot garden 5 years ago. It was a labor of love for our family to work in and share. It was wildly successful and addictive.

This first garden was a lot of work! We cleared a huge unused weed patch and leveled and groomed it for our experiment in square foot gardening! We were hoping for the best!

It was soooo exciting to see it begin to grow and fill-in. We had no idea how wildly successful it would become!

It just got bigger and bigger and fuller and more prolific! We were in awe!

I'm sure you get the idea!!! Isn't it amazing? We all fell in love with our garden and reaped the amazing harvest for weeks and weeks!

And yes...tomatoes can and DO grow in 6" of fabulous soil! I'm sure you can see why we are hooked!
I highly recommend this method of urban gardening! It literally has a 100% success rate! Do it!!!
